American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET) is a multi-disciplinary firm of engineers, scientists and material specialists who provide consulting, investigation and testing services on a wide variety of projects in the built environment. Structural capabilities include:

  • Investigation and analysis of building problems relating to moisture infiltration, leakage, condensation, cracking, corrosion, general deterioration, foundation settlement and slope stability.

  • Condition assessment and documentation of building and structural systems including facades, roofs, slabs-on-grade, structural floors, walls, foundations and floor coverings.

  • Assessment and analysis of material and structural failures and damage caused by fires and storms.

  • Investigation of hazardous chemical leaks and spills and development of a remediation program in accordance with local or national regulations.

  • Specialized field and laboratory testing programs tailored to the needs of the project. Program may include ground penetrating radar (GPR), water spray testing, chain drag surveys, moisture emission rate calculation, in-situ load tests, air quality surveys, thermal surveys, chloride ion content and other nondestructive testing/investigation methods.

Preservation and repair capabilities include:

  • Assessments to document the as-built and existing conditions and identify the need for repair.

  • Analysis to determine the extent and significance of distress or deterioration, and developing options for repair or rehabilitation

  • Preparation of repair documents and/or observations and testing, during construction.

Our technical staff is supported by a large, multifaceted in-house laboratory. This important asset supplies a testing capacity ranging from material and analytical testing using recognized national standards, to customized test programs for new or unique materials and products.
