The Dale Street Shops Site was operated as a locomotive repair facility from the late 1800s to the 1980s. In 1997 the St. Paul Port Authority retained AET to evaluate the environmental and geotechnical conditions of the property in consideration of redevelopment. The redeveloped property is now called the Great Northern Business Center South.
Throughout the seven year process, 7 RAPs, revisions, or addenda were prepared as well as 3 DRAPs and revisions. The combined Response Actions included: excavation, stabilization treatment, and off-site disposal. The scope of the Response Action included: 10,400 cubic yards of lead contaminated soil, 900 cubic yards of PAH contaminated soil, 13,750 cubic yards of petroleum contaminated soil, and 2,700 cubic yards of asbestos contaminated soil. The total cost of the Response Action was about $2,500,000. |
