American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET) announces the hire of Jack Salmela as a Geotechnical Engineer.
Duluth, MN – American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET), a leading engineering consulting firm, hired Jack Salmela, P.E., as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. Jack received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He will serve AET clients in Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.
He previously worked for Mn/DOT in its Duluth office for 25 years, ten years of which was spent in soils and pavement design. He also worked in hydraulics, construction contract administration, and project management. From his years at the DOT, Jack can offer AET and its clients experience in pavement design and rehabilitation, aggregates, and soil stabilization.
As an avocation, Jack writes novels and has been busy giving presentations on his last two, which are historical fiction related to northeast Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin and the St. Anthony Falls Mill District. In his presentations, Jack shows 18th century maps of the western Lake Superior region and describes the border evolution and disputes in this area.
Jack was born and raised in Duluth, and lives there today with his wife. They have a daughter who attends Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minnesota.
