American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET) announces the appointment of Dr. Chunhua Han, Ph.D as Principal Engineer for its Geotechnical Division.

Saint Paul, Minnesota – Dr. Han joined AET in fall of 2008 to complete the development of a full-service infrastructure and pavement engineering group with capabilities in geotechnical exploration, material testing, non-destructive evaluation and testing of pavement structures. His specific expertise will expand AET’s experience with non-destructive pavement evaluation, which includes the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). He will also use his expertise in pavement material modulus testing to expand laboratory capabilities for paving and soil materials.

Prior to joining AET, Dr. Han was involved in pavement design, construction, maintenance and research for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), state departments of transportation, transportation agencies of counties and cities, and in the private sector. He was also involved in highway technology transfer and training for both American and Chinese engineers under the Local Road Research Board of Minnesota Department of Transportation and the World Bank. Dr. Han is the author of numerous technical publications.

Dr. Han worked for the University of Minnesota Civil Engineering Department as a Research/Teaching Assistant. He also has experience with Mining as an Assistant Professor for Northeastern University in China. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologies (AAPT) and the Minnesota Area Association of Physics Teachers (MAAPT).

Dr. Han received his undergraduate degree from Shenyang, Liaoning Province, the Peoples Republic of China in 1982 and his Ph.D. degree in geotechnical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1991. He is a licensed engineer in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Iowa and North Dakota. Dr. Han is originally from Beijing, the People’s Republic of China and currently resides with his family in Shoreview, MN.
